Ever since I started seeing Gina Julian's Op Art pieces in her Instagram feed I have been quite obsessed with them. And as I was planning to write a post on her and her new series, I saw she is releasing new pieces for sale today! The sale starts at 11 am (EST), so be ready! Playing with such vibrant color combinations and fun optical illusions these paintings are dynamite. Gina says about her series that it expresses her love of precision and exactness. I think they are exactly cool and that one may need to come home with me. I really do love geometry in art especially if it gives me a playful sense of another dimension. I bet you want to see more!-
I'm excited to share Brant McFarlain's portfolio with you all today. I recently learned about him through a dear friend and I fell in love with his sexy and elegant yet warm design aesthetic. I also love that he is a local Dallas designer. From gold fireplaces, to mirrored vaulted ceilings to energetic art I think you will enjoying looking through his work. Here are my favorite shots-
Wouldn't you love being subscribed to a quarterly (or monthly) magazine featuring YOU??!!!! Do you have a million iPhone photos but don't know what to do with them? You don't want to delete them, but they are not frame worthy. You probably know exactly what I mean. These phone photos may be less grand than your good camera photos but they do tell your daily comings and goings and more appropriately capture those small life triumphs and silly victories, or those whimsical fleeting thoughts (being delighted by a slew of freshly baked cookies anyone?!). These phone photos can take you back to a specific thought on a specific day so easily. They are hard to give up. So, what is a photo-loving or obsessed person to do??
Well, I have the most amazing solution for you. I recently found out about RECENTLY, a company that easily prints (quarterly or monthly, you choose) phone photos you have accumulated into the cutest magazine format. Stack them, display them, or even use them as a visual diary. The idea is brilliant! I love taking photos with my phone but then I don't really utilize all these pics like I do the photos I take with my 'good' camera. Those feel more special, but the photos I capture with my phone are the ones that actually capture the essence of my regular more casual life. So, of course I was thrilled to find a way to treasure these daily musings. Here are some snaps of my first (of many I hope) Recently magazine-
I really enjoy when new companies make your life easier. I remember a few years ago I undertook a fun but time-consuming project. I wanted to line one of our hallways in the bedroom area with framed family photographs. This entailed printing the photos at a local store, picking them up when they were ready and then going to the framer's to have each one framed. A few short years later and this process seems long, absurd and obsolete. These two photographs were printed and framed by Livestock Framing. This was my first time trying them and I loved the experience. You upload any photo, choose the size and frame and you are done! The quality of the printing and framing is really great. Here are the two photos I printed. You will enjoy hearing about each photo as well-
